Community Projects

Milwaukee Public Theater

Milwaukee Public Theatre is celebrating its Fortieth year of community service in Milwaukee and its surrounding suburbs.  In celebration of this long standing cultural icon, Dr. Kenney worked with her students Bennett Frasier, Jessica Mann, Lauren Dumke and Casey Krause to create branding and motion graphic video.  The video describes briefly accomplishments of Milwaukee Public Theatre.

The Milwaukee Public Theatre Steampunk Circus of Metamorphosis

As President of the Board of Directors of Milwaukee Public Theatre, Dr. Theresa Kenney was also the executive producer and artist director of The Steampunk Circus of Metamorphosis, a fabulous 40th anniversary celebration. The theme combined MPT’s extensive circus arts experience with the whimsy and invention of Steampunk, and also recognized MPT’s metamorphosis, how the company has kept pace with changing social issues, remaining relevant to Milwaukee’s increasingly diverse population.  It was a wonderful reunion with many old friends. In this slide show you will see the Circus branding and some slides from the Fashion Show.
If I Had a Hammer

If I Had a Hammer is a community art program designed to involve both parents and children in creative workshops that include woodworking, collaborative art projects, design and music.  Dr. Kenney spearheaded this project through her involvement with The Riverwest Artists Association, RRRAGS (Riverwest Random Recyclable Art and Gift Show) Co Op Fest, The Riverwest Co operative Alliance  and The Riverwest Artist Association.

Energy Independence Day (EID)

Energy Independence Day (EID) - 4th of July Celebration in Gordon Park Milwaukee had taken place for over 100 years and due to budget cuts was in danger of not continuing.  Tess Kenney worked with the neighborhood to revitalize the event by creating an energy educational component and renaming the event Energy Independence Day.  Tess was involved in all aspects of event coordination besides creating the advertising campaign and marketing for EID.  The neighborhood turned out in large numbers and learned about sustainability, listened to music, learned about raising chickens, making pedal shakes and more. This slideshow includes ads as well as images from the event.

Fondy Food Center

Tess Kenney has recently worked with the Fondy Food Center along with several of her students in Graphic Outlook, to develop support materials, tighten up the existing logos,  create new matching logos for the several groups within the non-profit, create support materials and create materials for their upcoming fundraiser Soul-bration in June.  These will be available for the 2013 season.

Student Health Center

This series of projects was part of the course Graphic Outlook a senior seminar focused on design.  The university recently remodeled the Student Health Center.  Tess Kenney worked with the director of the center to oversee these designs to enhance the area.  There was a new logo, informational posters in all of the exam rooms and a hand painted installation in the waiting room created by graphic outlook student.
